Story #35: “I Take That as a Sign from God.”

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Pensacola, FL

On a cold morning in Pensacola, two sidewalk advocates spoke with a woman who conceived a child from rape.  She was hurting and felt that abortion was her only solution to the recent trauma she had experienced.  The counselors lovingly offered her words of encouragement and assistance.  They prayed with her, and everyone began to cry, as they poured their hearts out to our heavenly father.  She still felt abortion was the only option and entered the facility.  The Sidewalk Advocates and other 40 Days for Life vigil participants remained hopeful and continued to pray, trusting in God that He will take care of her.

About an hour had passed by, and she came back out to tell the vigil participants that the doctor could not “Find her vein.”  Because of this, “She was not going to have the abortion.” She took this as a “Sign from God that He does not want her to do this.” Continue reading

Story #34: Blessing Bags

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Berwyn Heights, MD

“Christmas”/”Blessing” bags are great! First thing today, there was a save thanks to them. I handed one to a father and one to the mother on the way in and handed literature to the older man who drove and went in with them. I saw the couple looking at and taking the things out of the bag before they went in. About 15 minutes later they came out and said they were keeping the baby! Those “Precious Feet” pins are what did it, I feel sure, but the candy and the little bag made it so much easier than normal to get these little feet that speak for themselves into the parents’ hands! Thank you, Kate, for all of the work of assembling these bags! They are wonderful!

Yesterday many people took the blessing bags and literature, too. I lost track of how many people entered and left, but I managed to hand out all but one of the remaining blessing bags that I had.

Story #33: Too Ashamed – and a Second Chance

A friend shared this story with Destiny De La Rosa of New Wave Feminists…
I am so heartbroken by abortion because it is a lie. Before I had Aiden, I was an unmarried woman, an alcoholic, without a “good job” and living on the seedy side of a college town in Indiana, running with a pretty unruly crowd of burn-out ex bikers and drug addicts. I had JUST got back into college at Indiana University and was trying to “turn my life around” when I found out I was pregnant. Aiden’s father and I had JUST broken up and I had recently moved into my own apartment – which I could barely afford. I was the perfect target for Planned Parenthood – the poster child for “young woman who cannot afford to bring a child into poverty” or “young woman who should not be forced to bear a child with a man who is not good for her” or “young woman who needs to focus on finishing school and getting a career.”

Story #32: A Protector of His Sisters

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Montgomery, AL

A Baby Saved!

Very thankful for the Lord today as He worked in a mother who came to the abortion facility to prepare for an abortion later this week.

She drove from out of town an I joked with her that she came all this way just to talk to me – that God loves her and her baby too. She listened to the gospel and seemed to understand the severity of what was occurring.

Story #31: Fetal Model and Ultrasound Had an Impact

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Newburgh, NY

A 16 year old girl came to the abortion facility with her friend. She said she was 12 weeks pregnant but wanted to confirm that with the abortion facility. We tried to get her to wait until the next day and go to our local Pregnancy Center (unfortunately they weren’t open that day.) When I showed her the fetal model of the 12 week old baby, it really affected her and she started crying. Nevertheless, she went into the facility. But when she came out she showed me the ultrasound picture and told us she’s keeping the baby! Praise you Lord Jesus Christ!

Story #30: “It was waving its arms and kicking.”

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Spokane, WA

Mary and I noted a white van in the Planned Parenthood parking lot in which a couple were sitting for quite a while. The young lady went inside alone and then came out. At that point I offered our help, and, to my surprise, she started to walk toward me. A Planned Parenthood escort tried to dissuade her, but she said not to worry.

When she came to me she said, “I saw the picture of the baby, and I couldn’t do it.”  She meant an ultrasound.  “It was waving its arms and kicking.”  Then she showed me a clear picture of the baby at three months.  Continue reading

Story #29: “Thanks, I needed that today.”

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Tampa (South), FL

I saw a young couple drive by. They were reading the signs around me. They went into the Planned Parenthood then came out shortly afterwards and seemed to be arguing. I began to pray for them. I waited until I could make eye contact with the girl who was about 50 yards away from me. I waved my brochure at her and she came quickly walking towards me. I asked if she was okay. She obviously wasn’t. She was crying and very emotional. I asked if I could pray with her and she said, “Yes.” Then I gave her a brochure and told her where the pregnancy center was. I told her that they would have tons of support for her and that she shouldn’t listen to anybody that was telling her to do something that in her heart she knew was wrong. We hugged several times and she tearfully said, “Thank you,” and walked over to the man. They got in the car and left. She had given me her name and phone number. I texted her that I was praying for her and that I knew she could do it. She texted back, “Thanks, I needed that today.”

Story #28: I was hoping someone would be here to talk me out of it.

The following story was shared with us through Sidewalk Advocates for Life-Montgomery, AL

Our Lord knew that there is great comfort in the Word, that even while on the cross, He quoted Psalm 22:1. I found today dealing with a mother seeking an abortion that His example remains true for us today, as it did Him on Calvary.

“K” came this morning seeking an abortion, but to the glory of God, never kept that appointment! Her story is actually pretty sad. She is suffering with a medical issue that will make it extremely painful to carry a baby and wasn’t sure if she could handle the pain. She also lost a child to pneumonia a few years ago as well as suffered some miscarriages.  Continue reading
