It was 9:52 a.m when a girl in her mid-20s arrived at the abortion clinic. I wasn’t sure what she was there for initially, because she came alone. She exited the office at 11:05 a.m. and walked straight over to us. She said, “I wanted to let you know that I decided not to go through with it.” She said to Matt, “It was because of the sign you are holding that I changed my mind. I couldn’t stop thinking about it and had to get out of there.”
The sign Matt was holding said, “Men Regret Lost Fatherhood.” We will call her ‘Mary’ as she said “Yes” to life. As we offered her information about the pregnancy care centers in her area, and encouraged her, she began to break down into tears. We exchanged contact info and the three of us prayed together and celebrated the courageous and life-changing decision she had just made. It was truly a powerful moment.
Mary was broken, but she said that a huge weight had just been lifted off of her shoulders. For me, this is a day I will never forget.

Several of our Sidewalk Advocates spoke to a young couple who were afraid of her father’s reaction to her pregnancy. The couple initially entered the abortion center, but then the young man came out and engaged us. He thought we were judging him. When we assured him we were not and that we were there to help him and his girlfriend, he opened up and told us that he wants to keep the baby. He said he comes from a large family of 8, including a disabled brother.
As we encouraged him to go next door to the local pregnancy resource center (PRC), he was more determined to get his girlfriend to go next door to the PRC. They entered the PRC and began to argue. She ran out distraught and went back to the abortion center. Again, he came out and more conversation took place with us. This time, he went back again, and then came back out and they announced that they were keeping the baby and went next door to the PRC. Please keep this couple in your prayers and pray that the Holy Spirit gives them courage to face her parents and continue to bravely choose Life.

We are often asked what are the best words to say to a mother walking into an abortion facility. It’s often a heart-felt greeting or a welcoming smile that catches their attention and draws them to you. This past Friday, as a young mother began her walk into the abortion facility, she noticed one of our sidewalk advocates offering her information about local resources. With some hesitation, she took this information and as he handed it to her he told her that Jesus loves her and her little baby. She continued walking to the entrance of the abortion facility. As she was being told by the security guards that her cell phone was not allowed in the building, another sidewalk advocate greeted her with a welcoming smile and a gentle invitation to speak with him. She waved back and smiled. This sidewalk advocate once again smiled, waved, and encouraged her to speak with him and she did! Continue reading

A mother came to the abortion mill this morning. Speaking with her, she said she was only coming for an ultrasound and wasn’t considering an abortion. “Good,” I thought. Continuing to just encourage her on how children are gifts from the Lord I offered her one of our packets. She tilted her head down and began to weep.
For the next half hour or so, the Lord worked in her heart as we spoke. I showed her the little bird nest that sits in a tree above the parking lot that gives me shade. How the Lord provided each twig for that mother bird and her babies. That mother bird has nothing to fear, God provides for them, and He will most assuredly provide for us. What a great picture we have of this in Christ.
Please pray for “D.” She left this awful place and chose life for her baby.
Recently, some of my staff returned from the sidewalk with an armload of paper grocery bags filled to the brim with goods. Surprised, I asked if they had made a trip to the grocery store on their return. They laughed, shook their heads and proceeded to share with me that while they were on the sidewalk, a young woman pulled up to the curb, rolled down her window and stated that she had a delivery for them.
She proceeded to get out of her car and unload bags filled with food, fresh fruit and juice, all the while exclaiming: “I just wanted to bless you guys, and thank you so much for what you do.” She then handed them a card that read:
“I drive down Forest Park Avenue often and whether it’s raining, hot or even cold, someone is standing in front of Planned Parenthood. I think to myself, this is the work of God in plain view. It seems like in this day and age, anything and everything is acceptable. It’s encouraging to see people who are still willing to stand for what is right. This card is to tell you your faithfulness is seen, and it’s inspiring.”
God often blesses us in the times we least expect it and in the ways we least expect him to.

A couple was going to the abortion facility for an abortion consultation, but they were intercepted by a sidewalk advocate. We brought them over to the Pregnancy Resource Center where they declared that they are choosing life. Series of events that led up to this moment are amazing. Our sidewalk advocate was in her car praying because she didn’t have a prayer partner. She saw the couple walking by on the sidewalk, and they didn’t park in the abortion facility parking lot. So she got out of her car and asked them what brought them there. They said they were going in for an abortion consultation. That’s when she was able to call the Pregnancy Resource Center and take them over. Usually, the Pregnancy Resource Center is closed at this time, but thankfully there was a leak in their roof and one of the ladies had to stay behind. It turns out that the client advocate at the Pregnancy Resource Center knew the young dad and was able to talk about all of their life-affirming options and connect with this couple on a whole other level. Thank you, Lord, for your many miracles.
A couple was going to get an abortion but they saw a Sidewalk Counselor outside, so they pulled up to talk. They wanted to know where to get a free sonogram, so the SWC sent them to the nearest center that provides free sonograms. Once the couple was there, they asked the center if they also had free abortions. But once they saw their 18 week old baby girl on the screen, they said there was NO WAY they could get an abortion! They were so excited for all of the help and wanted to share the image with us, and that their baby girl is due in July 2015!
Rosie actually did not reveal to us until years later that she had scheduled to have her baby aborted. She walked up to a Coalition for Life volunteer during the spring of 2015 and said, “I want you to meet Ryan! He is my 4 year-old son. Almost five years ago, I was sitting in the waiting room of this very abortion facility and just could not go through with my appointment because I remembered someone praying outside and couldn’t shake the overwhelming thought that this was wrong. I am so glad I have my son!”
