Story #35: “I Take That as a Sign from God.”

Submitted by Sidewalk Advocates for Life – Pensacola, FL

On a cold morning in Pensacola, two sidewalk advocates spoke with a woman who conceived a child from rape.  She was hurting and felt that abortion was her only solution to the recent trauma she had experienced.  The counselors lovingly offered her words of encouragement and assistance.  They prayed with her, and everyone began to cry, as they poured their hearts out to our heavenly father.  She still felt abortion was the only option and entered the facility.  The Sidewalk Advocates and other 40 Days for Life vigil participants remained hopeful and continued to pray, trusting in God that He will take care of her.

About an hour had passed by, and she came back out to tell the vigil participants that the doctor could not “Find her vein.”  Because of this, “She was not going to have the abortion.” She took this as a “Sign from God that He does not want her to do this.”

The Sidewalk Advocates and vigil participants showered her with hugs and prayers.  They exchanged numbers so we can keep in contact with her and make sure she has everything she needs, including a baby shower.

During a moment like this, I recall the words from Isaiah 58:9, “Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, Here I am.”

Our God is here with us, saving his children, mother and child, saving us all, from the bondage of sin.  Thank you God for hearing our prayers!  We place our trust in YOU, O Lord!

Oh by the way, this is the first of TWO turn-a-rounds on the first Friday of the spring 2017 40 Days for Life campaign.  One of our Sidewalk Advocates approached a car as a couple was leaving the abortion facility.  The man driving the car, eagerly responded to the Sidewalk Advocate’s smile and universal “roll down the window” sign, with a smile of his own.  He took a copy of our woman centered “There is Hope” brochure.  The Sidewalk Advocate quickly asked, “Are you keeping your baby?”  He answered with a smile, “Yes, we are.”  Praise the Lord!
